Frente ao Gilberto Gil em Defesa do Não

http://liberdadepalestina.blogspot.com/2011/02/carta-ao- gilberto-gil-to-ADER-ao.html

February 3, 2011

Dear Gilberto Gil,

As longtime admirers of his music and aware of your commitment to freedom and social justice, and how activists were surprised and troubled to know that you want to do a concert in Israel in April.

participation in a concert in Israel is not a neutral act, devoid of any political message. As said the late Howard Zinn: You can not be neutral on a moving train. By participating in an event in Israel, you support the campaign to cover up Israeli violations of international law and projecting a false image of normality. Any statement you wish to make through their participation in this event would be overshadowed by the fact that you're crossing a picket line established by most international organizations of civil society in Palestine. Indeed, a just peace message would reach more people, including Israelis, if you cancel your participation.

Since the war Israel against Gaza in December 2008 and January 2009 that left 1,400 Palestinians dead and led the Goldstone declared that Israel committed war crimes, many international artists have refused to play in a country that puts itself above the rights and humantos international law. After the Israeli attack on a ship bound for humanitarian aid to Gaza in May last year, the number of artists grew. Elvis Costello, Gil Scott Heron, Carlos Santana, Roger Waters, Devendra Banhart, and the Pixies are just some of the artists refused to perform concerts in Israel last year.

We asked him to join the growing list of respected artists who have the boycott call.

During recent decades, from the Civil Rights movement in the U.S. until the anti-war movements around the world, when our governments fail to apprehend those responsible for grave human rights violations, we have the responsibility to do so. The South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu said: "If apartheid ended in South Africa, this occupation will also end, but the moral force and international pressure will have to be so certain about." The Palestinian call for BDS comes from the Palestinian civil society to civil society around the world, including Israel, to join this liberation movement.

We are happy to discuss this more thoroughly with you and support you in both is needed. We are simply asking you to do so in a way not to hurt growth led by global BDS movement of the Palestinian cause. With all due respect for his legacy of resistance in the Brazilian military dictatorship, freedom and against racism in the world we invite you to participate in this struggle for justice and cancel his concert in Israel in April.

With great respect,

do Povo Palestinian sing to or Apartheid, Gilberto Gil!

February 25, 2011.

Dear Mr. Gilberto Gil:

As members of the Network Jewish anti-Zionists International, we adhere to the letter had been sent to you by group of Israeli citizens who support the call for cultural boycott of the state of Israel (BDS) as a way pressing the state government to end its colonial and apartheid policies against the Palestinian people.
find attached a translation into English of the letter dated israeliense group on February 3, 2011, extracted from

,

for your consideration and reference.

Like the Israeli group, we think that in the context of the moment we see the peoples of the Middle East get up in a heroic against oppression, supporting the BDS is now the only non-violent manner, in complete harmony with this historical process, to promote the release of the Palestinian people.

We parted with the hope that in future we can say that you stood on the right side of history. Sincerely, Network International Jewish anti-Zionists States in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula

Dear Gilberto Gil:

We are members of a group of about 200 Israeli citizens who support the cultural boycott of Israel led by the Palestinians. As you are an artist who has in his own experience of imprisonment and exile by the military regime in their country, we learned with great dismay of his concert schedule in the city of Tel Aviv. The Palestinian call

[1]

for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against the State of Israel (BDS) was issued in 2005 by more than 170 Palestinian civil society to counter racism and other oppressive mechanisms such as mass expulsion and illegal imprisonment. We realize that is not the first time you visit Israel. Not due to the function itself, but its current context so please consider the Palestinian call and cancel his performance in Israel. Through this cancellation you initiative will support the nonviolent Palestinian civil society, which is becoming more widespread in the world and is based in the defense of human rights.

The BDS call is the most unanimous policy initiative today. This represents people from all sectors who used to live in historic Palestine, Palestinians living under military siege and occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Palestinian citizens of Israel who were under military rule until 1966, and since then have been facing systematic racial discrimination, apartheid-like, by Israel, and Palestinian refugees who were sacked and expelled from Israel in 1948 and their descendants living in refugee camps in Gaza and the West Bank or in exile (some of these live in Israel). Instead of referring falsely colonial conflict in Israel / Palestine as a mere territorial dispute and to avoid adopting solutions, BDS call focuses on international law and the rights of the Palestinian people and individuals, which should be the basis for any just and peaceful solution.

The BDS call was inspired by similar campaigns made by Indians South Africa to overthrow apartheid in his country, a struggle in which cultural boycotts played a crucial role in drawing world attention to the oppression of South Africans. The call is backed by almost the entire community

[2]

Palestinian cultural workers and other international supporters. It also serves as an inspiration and is supported by the popular resistance activists disarmed. Activists such as Abdallah Abu-Rahmah of Bil'in who has been detained for more than a year in an Israeli military prison for the vague charge of "incitement" and "organizing demonstrations illegal. " Abu Rahmah's imprisonment triggered widespread international condemnation, Amnesty International gave the name of prisoner of conscience

[3]

and the EU has condemned his trial

[4] repeatedly. In a letter from prison it encourages its supporters, "the international campaign of boycott and international legal action under the universal jurisdiction, have expanded the impact of our popular demonstrations in Palestine" [5] . Another human rights activist detained in an Israeli prison and recently sentenced to 9 years is Ameer Makhoul. Makhoul is an Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel and the director general of Ittijah, an organization of some 80 civil society NGO that was founded by Palestinian citizens of Israel and is a signatory to the call of the BDS in 2005. Makhoul was brutally arrested by the Israeli Shabak [domestic intelligence service of Israel], tortured and stripped of their legal rights including the right to see their lawyers. His case was also muted and did not spread in the media communication. In his letter from jail says [6] : "Based on my experience and the fact that there are about 7,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, I have concluded that the lack of evidence poses no obstacle to the Shabak. They have their secret weapon, or as they call 'the secret evidence. " The show before the judges, but neither I nor my lawyers have permission to know what it is. The Israeli system never blame the state or the Shabak, but blamed its Palestinian victims. "

Makhoul was convicted for contacting a "foreign agent", a very vague term in the lexicon of Israeli security forces, as he explains: "Israel will never allow their court declare me innocent. On the other hand, every Palestinian refugee has a friend or partner in the Arab world is potentially considered as a "foreign agent". " Amnesty International has also condemned the judicial process Makhoul [7] .

In order to eliminate such inequities and their causes based in iniquity, a large number of international artists have canceled their performances in Israel. Some of these, and many others, have explicitly committed themselves to supporting the cultural boycott. These are some of the names and lists of requests for such artists: Carlos Santana, Gil Scott Heron, Elvis Costello, Devendra Banhart, Dave Randall

[8] and Maxi Jazz from Faithless, Vanessa Paradis, Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack

[9]

,

180 Irish artists [10] , 500 artists from Montreal [11] and international alliance Artists Against Apartheid [12] . In honor of his legacy against racism and human rights support, hope your name is part of this great international effort is growing day by day. Yours sincerely,

What Does A Bloated Stomach Look Like

Boycott of Israel to achieve sovereignty and peace in Palestine

Boycott Israel to achieve sovereignty and peace in Palestine ACTIVIST CAMPAIGN AGAINST APARTHEID WALL Palestinian National Committee Member for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BNC)
Franklin
Falconi
Palestine today?
In our organization we start with three lines of analysis about what is happening in Palestine, there is given an occupation, colonization and apartheid. Not that there are two states that are fighting, since Israel was created on Palestinian land 60 years ago, there is a continuous process of colonization and ethnic cleansing. He threw 75% of the indigenous Palestinian population from their lands. There is still 23% of Israeli citizens are Palestinians, since 1948, stayed there and the Israelis have failed to remove them. At this time have been destroyed over 500 Palestinian communities daily. With the war of occupation, since 1967, Israel turns over the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. The construction of the wall began in 2002, the establishment of Israeli settlements in Palestinian areas, and over 600 military checkpoints in the West Bank have left only with 13% of territory. The Palestinians are gradually without land, without water, without the possibility of trading products between a village and another, to reach the West Bank to Gaza is impossible. West Bank is 10 kilometers from the sea, people see it, but it can access it by the presence of the wall. - CUT reiterates its condemnation of Israeli policies of occupation of Palestinian territory, which ignore the resolutions of the United Nations (UN) and violate international human rights standards, as expressed in our 6 th National Congress.
What about the alleged impending recognition of a Palestinian state through final status to be signed by Israel in the month
September?
I do not see the possibility of such recognition for any side, the Israeli government has no interest to recognize the Palestinian state, especially with the boundaries of 67 years, this is an explicit policy of the Foreign Ministry. The peace process do not see it either. There is really no negotiations and international pressure to achieve that purpose.
Currently there is a movement in South America to recognize the Palestinian state, is symbolic, but it is important for Palestinian rights.
But in Palestine there are state institutions, what is the role?
This raises our movement BNC, we propose the evacuation of Palestinian territory, to the colonies, the end of the wall and the equality of Palestinian citizens. Because there is an apartheid created by Israel, there are more than 20 laws which state that the Palestinians do not have the same rights, Israeli society does not accept the Palestinian people. If these rights are achieved, in one way or another, then we will talk about achieving peace.
Why there is no serious international response against Israel?

There are many commitments, for example, in the arms, between 75 and 80% of Israel's arms production is for export, have a large market and that market is in the South. The largest importer of arms from Israel is India, then there is Turkey, but negotiations were blocked after the attack on "freedom flotilla" occurred in October 2010 and whose crew were mostly of this country. The next destination is Brazil and then Colombia. Ecuador also is very involved, not only on imports of arms but also military relations and training from Israel.
South If these countries decided to block the arms trade, in six months we would have peace in Palestine. We ask that you not allow the money from the Ecuadorian and of the peoples of South America, is used to pay for Israeli weapons, weapons used against the Palestinian people and Arabs in general. The Israeli market is too small, therefore, all weapons have this fate, if you do not buy no market.

CUT Brazil: Solidarity with the Palestinian people and political boycott of Israel!

CUT Brazil: Solidarity with the Palestinian people and political boycott of Israel!

Sunday January 30, 2011 11:26

Central Unica dos Trabalhadores (CUT), Brazil

"... We, Brazilians and workers, we can not remain indifferent to human rights abuses of Palestinians. We demand that our government pronouncements and appeal to strong international pressure concrete measures to ensure that the Palestinian people to enjoy self-determination and ensure

peace in the region ... "

The movement of solidarity with the Palestinian people approved in

6 th National Congress of the CUT to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The Central Union of Workers of Brazil

The text of our resolution states: Unfortunately at this moment more than 5,900 Palestinians are
held as political prisoners in Israeli jails, while in Jerusalem, more than 950 Palestinian houses were demolished in the last 10 years, and construction new housing

only for Jewish settlers in Palestinian territory, widens every day, all this is under continuous pressure to "checkpoints" that feed the climate of constant fear among the Palestinian population.

With the advance of the Israeli offensive, "symbolized" by the construction of the apartheid wall and the constant bombing of Gaza, forces us all to provide progress in our Solidarity with the Palestinian people, carrying out policies that go beyond humanitarian assistance and to relevant contributions to building peace in Palestine, we urge the trade unions, social and popular for creating the campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) of the policies of occupation of Palestinian territory by Israel.

regret that Brazil is the third largest consumer of arms from Israel, through the Plan of National Defense Strategy of the Ministry of Defence of Brazil, and arms deals
indirectly contribute to the actions of the occupation of Palestinian territory, so it is necessary that the Brazilian government suspended negotiations current bilateral agreements both economic and military ties between Brazil and Israel. Remains unacceptable that the Free Trade Agreement between MERCOSUR and Israel will become a reality.
call social movements and grassroots organizations to build the National Conference for peace and solidarity with the Palestinian people, to be held in Brazil in the second half of 2011.

We demand respect for the right of Palestinians to return to their homes and lands essential for the Palestinian people and self-determination to build their state.

We condemn the escalation of Israel belligerent policies, including inhumane and illegal siege of Gaza, continuing construction of settlements, the wall of apartheid, repression and violation of rights Palestinian human Palestinians and international solidarity, including the brutal attack on the flotilla of Freedom on 31 May 2010, a Brazilian citizen on board.

Potions That Turn You Into A Mermaid

The employer can access the computer at work, but not the email

The Third Section of the Provincial Court of Madrid has issued an order which supersede proceedings against a businessman who agreed to computer of one of its employees considering no crime of discovery and disclosure of secrets in his performance. The news has come out in the press, however, speaks of email access , but in the order in question does not say anything about access to email, but only to worker's computer, which which is quite different. Resolution court would be very innovative in that case, since without employee consent, or without having previously established conditions of use and control of business e-mail, you can not access email on the worker.

has on many occasions appealed to the analogy by which to apply the provisions of Article 18 of the Statute Workers (ET) for enterprise computing resources. Consequently, it could only be considered for registration when necessary "for the protection of business assets and the other workers company within the workplace and during working hours. In its full realization will respect the dignity and privacy of the worker and will be assisted by a legal representative of workers or in their absence from the workplace, another employee of the company, provided that this is possible. "

The order said it supports among others, the Judgement of the Social Chamber of the Supreme Court of September 26, 2007 , which is considered that the provisions of Article 18 is ET an exception to protect the privacy of the work, while the control of information technology does not fall within the exception, but is within the powers of direction and control of Article 20 ET. Consider the judge to " the computer is a protection tool that holds the employer as the owner or by another title and it has therefore powers of control over their use, including consideration of course." Thus, the employer can easily access the computer of the worker in the exercise of that power of control.

But we insist on what was said at the beginning, this is a case of access to the computer (at least so says the car) and not specifically to e-mail which itself may be restricted to access by the employer without first successfully established a policy for use by workers known as the mail address is being protected by the secrecy of communications (Article 18.3 of the Constitution).
